Fore those who don't know, gaming had it's 36th Birthday on 27th January this year. It's older than a lot of our members including me. Here is a brief(ish) history of how PS3 came about. 27th January 1972 - Magnavox launched a console called 'Odyssey', based on the 'brown-box' technology developed by a military defence contractor named Ralph Baer, who was attempting to develop technology that would increase the reaction times of US soldiers. The games were actually far more advanced that you might expect and actually don't look that different from X-Box 360. The console came with 2 controllers, a light gun, some other bits and dabs and six everyready batteries. It retailed at $100. Coming soon - part 2.
